STORY OF A FAMILY DREAM
During Christmas 2005, sitting around the table, the family couldn’t stop thinking about the business: a home-style restaurant, with a long tradition in the area, and eight rooms that were occupied by workers during the week and filled with customers on weekends, mostly regulars who came to enjoy Liébana.
THE DECISION TO TAKE THE BIG LEAP
We saw that we needed to improve those rooms if we didn’t want to fall behind with the evolution of the valley. Thus, María Ángeles, Adolfo, Lines, our Our mother, always eager to fight, and with the support of Rocío, our other sister, we made the decision to build an inn in the house of our grandparents, Tomás and María, who had started this business 50 years ago.
A NEW PROJECT ON THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE FAMILY HOME
The decision was difficult; we had to tear down the entire house that our grandfather had built with his own hands and make a very strong investment in an area like Liébana, where there was an increasing number of tourist offerings.
2007, THE EL CORCAL DE LIÉBANA INN IS BORN
Our aim was to create a building that blended in with the surroundings but that, once inside, stood out a bit from the rest. Thus, in July 2007 the inn El Corcal de Liébana was opened, whose name, like that of the rooms (el chorco, el carral, valdimiores …), are references to Armaño, the town of our grandparents, to whom we owe our being here.
