HIKING IN THE VALLEY OF LIÉBANA | THREE ROUTES
We have prepared three routes to walk from our inn, touring the area and enjoying the Liébana Valley and the Picos de Europa without having to take the car at all.
Two of them are circular routes, so that you can start and end at our inn. The third in a route that is part of the Camino Lebaniego and reaches Santo Toribio de Liébana is one of the most charming hiking routes in Valle de Liébana. In them you will visit towns and typical places of the area. In addition, they are routes for all levels, so you can even do them with children. At the hotel we will be able to pass you the routes that we will explain here so that you can download them on your GPS and thus do not have any loss.

HIKING IN THE VALLEY OF LIÉBANA | ROUTE 1
TAMA, HERMITAGE OF GUADALUPE, HERMITAGE OF SAN TIRSO, OJEDO
On this route, you will leave the inn in the direction of the villa district. Leaving the fountain on the right, you will ascend to the Hermitage of Guadalupe.
Continue the climb through the pine forest to cross the firewall, and from here the terrain is softened and the views of the Peaks of Europe mountains are getting better and you can see such emblematic peaks as the Sacred Heart.
From here, we will continue towards the Hermitage of San Tirso and from here a simple descent towards the inn. It is a very nice route and it is also a route made and recommended by us, so it is far from the typical mass routes in the area.

HIKING IN THE VALLEY OF LIÉBANA | ROUTE 2
CORCAL DE LIÉBANA, COHORCO, ILLES, VIÑÓN, COLIO, PENDES
Starting from the Inn direction Viñón, 1 km away you will turn left along the road leaving the stable of cows on the right.
From there, you will ascend to the village of Cohorco and once you have passed the town, in 700 meters there is a path to the left, narrow and quite steep, that will take you to the town of Illes, where you will have the first spectacular view of the day. Without entering the town, you will turn right towards Viñón and here you will find a fountain to drink a little water.
Behind the fountain, continue the ascent road to a crossroads where you will find four roads where you will have to continue straight ahead to get a strong descent to Colio.
Once in Colio, you will continue to the end of the town on the lower part and there you will find three roads. Taking the highest one, which passes behind the small chapel, you will reach the area of La Peñuca, a spectacle of views in all ways.
And from here, you will start the descent to Pendes, where you will have the opportunity to try some cheeses in Las Brañas cheese factory and a simple descent to the inn. Here you will pass through several towns of Liébana that are nothing touristy and that, therefore, keep intact the essence of being authentic typical mountain villages.

HIKING IN THE VALLEY OF LIÉBANA | ROUTE 2
CORCAL DE LIÉBANA – SANTO TORIBIO DE LIÉBANA
This route will take you to one of the places of pilgrimage par excellence of Christianity and to one of the most important points of this area of the Peaks of Europe, Santo Toribio de Liébana.
We left the inn and 100 meters across the bridge the River Deva. There we join the lebaniego path to make its last stretch. Through the meadows of Campañana we go to Potes, leaving the river on our left. In 3 km you will reach Potes, you will continue the route passing behind the Center for Lebaniegos Studies and in 500 meters you will find the junction that goes up to the monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana. And after 2,5km of hard climb they will be rewarded with the arrival to the monastery and with the spectacular views that you will find.
The route is simple and is well signposted, being part of “Camino Lebaniego”, so there is no loss.
